WHAT ARE FAMILY GROUPS?
Family Groups exist to be a gospel-centered family living on mission. Family Groups read the Word, discuss, and pray together. Family Groups live life together, love, and serve one another then go out into their mission fields to reach the people God places in their lives with the gospel for the glory of God. Family Groups are how we live as the church seven days a week as a disciple of Jesus. It is our experience that real life happens in Family Groups - accountability, growth, discipleship, prayer, and life change are fostered in this everyday environment.
WHY FAMILY GROUPS?
The New Testament describes the relationship between believers to be like that of brother and sister. To truly understand what the New Testament authors intended we must seek to understand what family relationships were like in the New Testament context. When the NT writers describe the relationship between believers to be like brother and sister, they were referring to the closest relationship in the family. It is important to note that Jesus made distinctions between the family at birth and the spiritual family that all believers are adopted into. The church is supposed to be the spiritual family, and that family was described using the strongest family language possible in that time. In other words, the relationships we have in the local church and with other believers should ultimately be the strongest relationships we have. Our hope is that Family Groups will help strengthen The Branch Church family as we seek to glorify God in all that we do.
WHAT DO FAMILY GROUPS DO?
Family Groups meet weekly to have a meal together, fellowship, read the scripture that will be preached on the following Sunday, and pray together. All of our Family Groups meet once a month at Family Reunions to fellowship together.
