Hope In Christ Alone

The Branch Church Pastors Blog, Churches in Dahlonega, Kyle Worthy,

Have you ever felt separated from God? Too far to feel His love? Do you feel too sinful to ever be loved by God, too wretched to be accepted by the infinitely perfect one? Do you feel even now that you aren’t worthy of God’s love- that He could never actually love you? That you're too far-gone? That you've done too much?

If so, I pray that you consider what God the Son- Jesus, did for you. I pray that you would meditate on how deeply God loves you, the extents He went to ransom you, and the task He accomplished by sending a part of Himself- Jesus, to die for your sins.

God the Son, known as “the Word” in John Chapter 1- spoke all of creation into existence in eternity past. John 1:1-3 He then left the presence of God to live among His creation. He left a host of Angels worshipping Him day, and night. He shed Himself of His glory, and wrapped Himself in human flesh. He then went to His creation. His creation His Creation that would beat Him, spit on Him, slap Him, try to stone Him; they would scourge Him, lie about Him, and sadly reject Him. His body was beat until it was unrecognizable. He also allowed His creation to twist a crown of thorns on His head, and then blind fold and beat Him. In a final depiction of love, He allowed His creation to drive nails through his hands and feet- nailing him to a cross to die.

This depiction is admittedly graphic, but these are the extents our God went to ransom us from our sins. His loving sacrifice covered our sins. | Isaiah 53:5, Hebrews 9:22, Romans 5:8

So you may be asking by this point : “How is this suppose to make me feel loved by God? Worthy of His death, deserving of His grace, forgiveness, and eternal life with Him?”

By this simple fact- we don’t deserve it. We fall short constantly. We mess up daily. We are sin addicts. We are unrelenting hypocrites. And God knows it. But God…..loves us regardless.

We don’t put our hope in our goodness, merit, worthiness, or righteousness. We put our hope for eternal security in God’s love that manifested itself on The Cross. He came knowing we couldn’t measure up; He came knowing we needed Jesus- The Messiah- The Savior. We aren’t hiding anything from God- He knows we’re sinful. He doesn’t expect us to measure up to His holiness within our own feeble human strength. So we put our hope in Christ, and Christ alone. | 2 Corinthians 5:21

If you are not resting in Jesus today- let Him impress on your heart your need to cease your spiritual striving, pursuit of moral uprightness, and adherence to religious practices. All of these activities all promise joy, peace, and right standing with God, but they ultimately drive us further away from the grace that God freely gives us! The only thing that satisfies God is faith in Jesus Christ, working itself out through love. | Galatians 5:6

If you are resting in Him, be assured of God’s love for you that cements your present, and future hope. Let the Holy Spirit comfort you with these words:

38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

All Glory to God, In Christ,

Kyle
